Celtic knotwork and emblematic patterns are signature elements of Alice Starmore's work as a hand knitting designer. Starmore created these knitting genres for her book The Celtic Collection, published 1992. I also developed a charting system to make these types of patterns easy to understand and to knit.
In this class you will learn how to read and use my charting system; you will also learn the techniques involved in knitting knotwork and emblematic patterns. I will demonstrate how to translate a design into a chart for knitting and you will have the opportunity to practice this yourself.
